APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Apple Cider Vinegar premiered globally on Netflix in February 2025. The fictionalised drama is inspired by Beau Donelly and Nick Toscano’s book, The Woman Who Fooled the World: the true story of fake wellness guru Belle Gibson.
Set at the birth of Instagram, the six-part series follows two young women who set out to cure their life-threatening illnesses through health and wellness, influencing their global online communities along the way. All of which would be incredibly inspiring — if it were true.

Created by acclaimed writer Samantha Strauss (Grown Ups, The End, Nine Perfect Strangers) and directed by Jeffrey Walker, the series dives into the origins of Instagram-fueled wellness culture and the rise and fall of an empire built on deception. Starring Kaitlyn Dever, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Aisha Dee, Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Ashley Zukerman, Mark Coles Smith, Richard Davies, Susie Porter, Matt Nable and Essie Davis (full cast and crew list on IMDb).
Apple Cider Vinegar was produced by See-Saw Films (Heartstopper, Slow Horses) and Picking Scabs, and shot in Melbourne. It won the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) awards for ‘Best Miniseries’ and ‘Best Casting in Television’, and the Logie award for ‘Best Miniseries or Telemovie’.
